Or is the savior rushing through life?\" And I also felt a little anxious. I worried that pushing ahead too much with a plan and schedule might lead to compromises in the work. Of course, zero compromise is impossible in any artist's work, but Moenos is one of the musicians I know who is furthest from compromise. However, things didn't always go smoothly, and by the time I heard the completion report, seeing hints of Moenos's struggles, I was convinced that my anxiety was unnecessary. That's because I believe true heartfelt emotion cannot be stirred by expressions devoid of struggle.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFirst, I want to emphasize that the tension of \"Metal del Chivo,\" which left not only SEX MESSIAH fans but also black metal enthusiasts from various quarters stunned by its awakening, is brilliantly maintained in \"Sexus-Mortem Ouroboros.\" If you're already thinking, \"Don't lecture me,\" then you don't need to follow my subsequent analysis at all; this is an album you can immediately play and thoroughly enjoy. The contribution of Abaddrums \"SEXXX\" Grinder, who, despite being buried in explosive sound, delivers genuine South American metal-style beats that are chaotic yet surprisingly solid in their structural support, is once again high. With his assistance, Moenos's vocals, now in Spanish, are filled with a madness that makes you flinch.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAnd what I immediately felt from the first listen was that the noisy, explosive sound of the guitar, emblematic of black metal's harshness, now seems to have an amplified fuzziness, making the psychedelic aspect even more distinct than in previous works. Moenos's electronic approach reportedly has its origins in the Kansai underground psychedelia he experienced firsthand for many years. Therefore, unlike doom metal, which uses traditional rock methods, SEX MESSIAH's black metal, while being extreme music that also utilizes electronic approaches, is permeated with a vintage analog feel throughout. This is likely due to the significant influence of Moenos's psychedelic rock foundation. Also, the epic melodies, which previously didn't receive much attention, have become more refined. Yet, this is different from melancholic or sorrowful tones, and in SEX MESSIAH's case, I believe it also stems from psychedelic rock.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eYou can see the figure of a snake, likely an Ouroboros, but the two people coupling next to it also appear to form the shape of an Ouroboros. If we delve deeper into Mr. 072's jacket art and title, it's as if the Ouroboros symbolizes not something metaphysically fantastical, but rather that the polluted lust of humans harbors all of creation. My rough image of black metal is to stand between the incompatible concepts of spiritualism and nihilism, extracting their extreme qualities to express oneself. If this is a deliberate act, then black metal musicians are clever even while being barbaric fundamentalists. While reissues have since made their music easily accessible on the internet, it was a very fresh discovery at the time. Southeast Asian, particularly Malay, metal scenes have a long history and have evolved uniquely, characterized by their distinctive melodies and compositions. Amidst a metal scene represented by bands like SIL KHANNAZ, BRAIN DEAD, SILENT DEATH, and NEBIRAS, AS SAHAR was unique in its relentless pursuit of darkness and primitivism, while also incorporating Malay metal melodies. NEBIULA PRODUCTIONS, run by Jaie, the vocalist of Malaysia's SIL KHANNAZ, was the main label releasing many of their albums. The fact that their music was rarely distributed overseas likely contributed to its cult status. Conversely, the ability to sell out domestically is a testament to the size of the local scene. Although AS SAHAR has a long history, Malik, the bassist, is the only original member remaining. Is it finally time, or just a coincidence that the timing is right? It's unbelievable to think that AS SAHAR would release a Japanese version or even perform in Japan, but perhaps the times have finally caught up. EVIL has maintained silence since the release of their 2nd album. IMMORTAL DEATH's various demos have consistently sold out soon after release. As I listen to this split, I can't help but wonder if Moenos chose to release it amidst such a busy period because she feels she is finally approaching what she truly wanted to do throughout her career as a black metal musician, and she has a strong desire not to suppress that creative impulse.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFor instance, this Split not only features tracks from each band but also includes a collaborative track between Moenos and EVIL. Furthermore, the layout by 072 of IMMORTAL DEATH, who is not afraid to break taboos, aligns perfectly with the fundamental principles of black metal. If I may add my own thoughts, I sense a reassuring quality in all three participating bands, in that they do not base their identity on trivial things like pride in being a Japanese metal\/extreme music artist. EVIL's lyrics are in Japanese, and it's known that Moenos respects so-called Japanoise artists. However, after years of slightly misinterpreting the fact that Japanese underground music excites foreign enthusiasts, the counter-cultural ideal of \"No More Censorship,\" loudly proclaimed by the punk bands and avant-garde music pioneers we adored in the 80s, has been completely emasculated with the spread of imported compliance, and the domestic scene seems to be headed towards decline. Moenos's recent energetic activities abroad echo the stance of 90s Japanese underground heavy metal musicians who abandoned unproductive activities in Japan and gained enthusiastic followers in Europe.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFor this 3-Way Split, each band's new songs were provided on the condition that no line recording would be used, meaning they were all recorded in one take. Coincidentally, I have been deeply fascinated by the live recordings of all three of these acts, and I have particularly advocated for EVIL and IMMORTAL DEATH's live recordings as their best works. The fact that EVIL's new songs, breaking their silence, are a black metal suite with a hint of hard rock flavor, will surely stir debate among fans. IMMORTAL DEATH also proves that the destructive power showcased on the \"Live Nekromance\" TAPE was not a fluke. They operate on a DIY basis, from releasing music and creating artwork to planning live events, including inviting international bands.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhile Sex Desire Records was originally founded to release my own band's music, when I received an offer from the leader of Blood Serpent, who is also a central figure in House of Ygra, I was convinced that this was the work I should be doing right now.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBlood Serpent was formed in Hanoi in 2022. While it includes members of Elcrost, their music is a complete departure from Elcrost's decadent style, instead pursuing merciless brutality in the form of BESTIAL BLACK METAL! I believe this sound was born out of the environment of Vietnam, where you might encounter a decaying tank just by walking down the street.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIron Bludgeon, active since 2023, is Japan's first true WAR BLACK METAL, with an extremely harsh sound and look! They actively perform live in their hometown of Osaka, as if to smash bedroom black metal. Last year, they hosted Luciferian Kommando, the eve of NWN!\/Hospital Fest. Since then, they have also toured internationally with SEX MESSIAH in Taiwan and Thailand, spreading their name across the globe.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhile many bands disappeared after the COVID-19 pandemic, black metal live performances, releases, and cross-border underground exchanges are thriving in various Asian countries, as if to vent frustration.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis release is part of that trend. What they are expressing is not idealism, war glorification, or fantasy, but rather the violent and brutal reality of the world itself.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEven without favoritism, Asian black metal is the most interesting right now! Blood Serpent plans to embark on an Asian tour in June, and Sex Desire Records will be organizing the Osaka leg on June 12th.
